Buddy Leader Duties & Responsibilities

Buddy Leaders will work with a group of 3/ 4 children enrolled in the program and will be supervised by an employee of the program. The purpose is to promote social connections between the younger participants and the older Buddy Leaders, and to make the program more accessible to any child that might otherwise choose not to participate. Some participants may not need assistance, but all participants will benefit from having an older buddy.

Help every participant successfully engage

Buddy Leaders work with a group of approximately four youth participants and staff of the program to ensure that participants are able to engage with the group activities

Provide extra encouragement & support

Buddy Leaders actively provide encouragement and support while working with and respecting others in a group setting

Be a buddy role model

Buddy Leaders are welcoming and caring individual and act as an inspirational role model. They support and champion younger buddies and identify any needs the kids may have

Provide an extra level of support and communication

Buddy Leaders promote good communication with parents, staff and other Buddy Leaders and report all concerns with regards to health and safety to the program staff
